Historical changes of biodiversity in Baikal Siberia and dynamics of nest settlements of the Great Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo L., 1758) in the first quarter of the XXI century

The article presents the history of nesting, disappearance from fauna and current spatial distribution Great Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo L., 1758) breeding colonies in Baikal Siberia. main research sites were Selenga River Delta, Strait Maloye More islands Chivyrkuy Bay, Upper Angara Bay on Lake; Barguzin hollows, Gusinoe Lake Pribaikalye Transbaikalye, where this species once lived according to well-known literary sources XVII middle XX centuries. Direct accounting newly nesting birds after a 50-year absence known with young that flew out by autumn, as well non-breeding birds, allowed us estimate total number cormorants 2021 Lake. It amounted 39-40 thousand which indicates settlement ecosystem population stabilization accordance environmental ecological capacity.
